Engineering Plate (Textured PEI)
The Engineering Plate is a textured PEI plate designed for technical materials such as PETG, ABS, ASA, and PA. It gives a fine textured bottom surface and is the most versatile plate in the Bambu Lab lineup.
Properties
- Surface: Textured PEI — gives a patterned/matte bottom surface on prints
- Adhesion: Better mechanical grip than smooth PEI
- Max bed temperature: 110 °C
- Release: Prints release easily after cooling to 40–50 °C
Best suited for
- PETG and PETG-CF (without glue stick, or with for extra safety)
- ABS and ASA (with glue stick)
- PA6 / PA12 / PA-CF (with glue stick — required)
- TPU (without glue stick)
- PLA (works well, gives textured bottom surface)
Not suited for
- Prints requiring a smooth bottom surface (use Cool Plate)
- PC at high temperatures (use High Temp Plate)
Maintenance
Cleaning
# Weekly (or after glue stick use):
1. Wash with warm water and mild dish soap
2. Rinse thoroughly
3. Let dry, or dry with lint-free paper
4. Final wipe with IPA
# Between prints without glue stick:
1. Wipe with IPA and lint-free paper
After glue stick
Always wash the plate after using glue stick. Remaining glue stick residue can cause uneven adhesion on the next print.
Texture direction
The Engineering Plate has a direction to its texture. Always mount the plate with clips in the correct orientation to avoid prints getting stuck in the texture indentations.
Replacing the plate
The Engineering Plate is worn when:
- The texture is worn smooth/flat in the center zone (most used area)
- Prints don't adhere even after cleaning and glue stick
- The plate has deep scratches or deformations
Normal lifespan: 300–700 prints with good maintenance.
