Bambu Lab filaments

Bambu Lab produces a wide range of filaments specially optimized for their printers. All Bambu Lab filaments come with an RFID tag that is automatically detected by the printer and sets the correct settings.

RFID and AMS

All Bambu Lab filaments have an RFID chip built into the spool. This provides:

  • Automatic recognition — the printer reads material type, color, and settings
  • Remaining amount — estimated filament left on the spool
  • Correct settings — temperature, speed, and cooling are set automatically
  • AMS compatibility — seamless material switching in AMS
Third-party filaments in AMS

AMS also works with third-party filaments, but you must set the settings manually in Bambu Studio. RFID auto-detection is exclusive to Bambu Lab filaments.

PLA series

Bambu Lab's PLA series is the most comprehensive, covering everything from basic products to special effects.

PLA Basic

PriceBudget

The standard filament for everyday printing. Available in a wide range of colors.

PLA Matte

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220 °C
Bed temperature35–45 °C
Cooling100%
SurfaceMatte, no gloss

Gives a smooth, matte surface that hides layer lines better than standard PLA. Popular choice for aesthetic prints.

PLA Silk

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature230 °C
Bed temperature45–55 °C
Cooling80%
SurfaceGlossy, metallic sheen

Gives a glossy, silky surface with metallic effect. Requires somewhat lower cooling and speed than standard PLA.

PLA Sparkle

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220–230 °C
Bed temperature35–45 °C
Cooling100%
SurfaceGlitter particles

Contains glitter particles that give a sparkling effect. Prints like standard PLA.

PLA Marble

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220 °C
Bed temperature35–45 °C
Cooling100%
SurfaceMarbled pattern

Gives a unique marbled effect with color variations throughout the print. Each print is slightly unique.

PLA Tough (PLA-S)

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220–230 °C
Bed temperature35–55 °C
Cooling100%
Strength20–30% stronger than standard PLA

Reinforced PLA with increased impact resistance. Suitable for mechanical parts that need more strength than standard PLA.

PLA Galaxy

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220–230 °C
Bed temperature35–45 °C
Cooling100%
SurfaceGlitter + color gradient

Combines glitter effect with color gradients for a unique visual effect. Prints on standard PLA settings.

PETG series

PETG Basic

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature240–250 °C
Bed temperature70–80 °C
Cooling50–70%
RFIDYes
AMS compatibleYes

Standard PETG with good strength and flexibility. Available in a good range of colors.

PETG HF (High Flow)

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature240–260 °C
Bed temperature70–80 °C
Cooling50–70%
SpeedUp to 300 mm/s

High-speed version of PETG formulated for faster extrusion without sacrificing quality. Ideal for large parts and batch production.

PETG-CF

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature250–270 °C
Bed temperature70–80 °C
Cooling40–60%
NozzleHardened steel required

Carbon fiber reinforced PETG with increased rigidity and dimensional stability. Requires a hardened nozzle (HS01 or equivalent).

Hardened nozzle for CF variants

All carbon fiber reinforced filaments (PLA-CF, PETG-CF, PA-CF, PC-CF) require a hardened steel nozzle. Brass wears out in hours with CF materials.

ABS and ASA

TPU 95A

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature220–240 °C
Bed temperature35–50 °C
Cooling50–80%
Speed50–70% (reduced)
Shore hardness95A
AMS compatibleLimited (direct feed recommended)

Flexible filament for rubber-like parts. AMS can handle TPU 95A, but direct feed gives better results for softer variants.

TPU in AMS

Bambu Lab's TPU 95A is specially formulated to work with AMS. Softer TPU (85A and below) should be fed directly to the extruder.

PA series (Nylon)

PA6-CF

ParameterValue
Nozzle temperature270–290 °C
Bed temperature90–100 °C
Chamber temperature50 °C+ (required)
Cooling0–20%
NozzleHardened steel required
EnclosureRequired
Drying70–80 °C for 8–12 hours

Carbon fiber reinforced nylon with extremely high strength and rigidity. One of the strongest FDM materials available.

PA6-GF

Quality control and color consistency

Bambu Lab maintains strict quality control on their filaments:

  • Diameter tolerance — ±0.02 mm (industry-leading)
  • Color consistency — batch control ensures matching color between spools
  • Spool quality — even winding without knots or overlap
  • Vacuum sealed — each spool is delivered vacuum-packed with desiccant
  • Temperature profile testing — each batch is tested for optimal temperature
Color number for consistency

Bambu Lab uses color numbers (e.g., "Bambu PLA Matte Charcoal") with batch control. If you need identical color across multiple spools for a large project, order from the same batch or contact support for batch matching.
